Designed by Teachers, for Teachers
As teachers, we’ve always been passionate about equipping our students with the skills they need to excel in their future careers. As web design educators, we began to notice a disconnect between the tools and curricula being taught in schools and the rapidly evolving needs of the web design industry.
As the industry evolved, more and more web designers were turning to WordPress as their go-to tool for building attractive, responsive websites that clients needed to keep their businesses up-to-date. Meanwhile, the tools we were still teaching were becoming increasingly outdated. Tools like DreamWeaver, or raw HTML and CSS – powerful, foundational technologies, but cumbersome and slow compared to modern content management systems like WordPress. Our Advisory Boards echoed these sentiments, sharing that a strong foundation in WordPress would give students an edge in the job market after graduation. More and more students struggled to see the connection between the classroom curriculum and the fast-paced world of modern web design. Everyone we talked to had concerns that our web design curriculum was becoming less effective in helping our students secure jobs after graduation. We knew we had to do something to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world.
As we discussed our frustrations over the lack of available tools, we also saw an opportunity to make a real difference in our students’ lives. As educators, we wanted to create a platform that was not only effective but also resonated with students on a personal level – a tool they could take ownership of, customize, and use to express their uniqueness.
With ClassroomWP, we set out to create a platform specifically tailored to teach WordPress as a powerful web design tool. We wanted to make the learning process as simple and efficient as possible, with a focus on live, hands-on experience. We also knew that we needed to prioritize safety and security while providing teachers with the necessary tools to manage and oversee their students’ work.
We’re proud to say that ClassroomWP has been designed by teachers, for teachers and their students. Our platform allows students to learn at their own pace, experiment with different plugins and themes, and build real-time, live websites. Moreover, it prepares them to earn industry-recognized certifications, setting them up for success in the competitive job market.
We are excited to see the impact that ClassroomWP has on the lives of students, who now have access to a cutting-edge educational resource that empowers them to pursue their dreams and create meaningful, successful careers in web design.
